Intro
Moving out to the big smoke
Got a flatshare in burnt oak
But my new job is central, it’s driving me mental
How to get from A to B
Verse
Guess I could take the tube
But there’s one thing that’s bugging me, it’s fucking deep
6 feet below the ground or more no thank you!
To bury me alive so
Have to fight me with a knife so
Take your escalator and abate your asking me to
What’s that, the London buses?
Well you’re right they have their plusses
Like a tram that’s been unshackled
Yet still saddled to its bus routes
I need a certain freedom
For a route to be appealing
Get that feeling of the breeze
And so there’s just one thing for me
Chorus
I’ll take my camel
My camel
I’ll ride through city streets at night
She gets me through the hump days
Does my camel
Ooh
Verse
A lime bike is a fine bike
Even better if it’s my bike
But the ride would take more time
And then besides I’d miss the limelight
Of People staring
Wondering how I’m not caring
Secretly they’re jealous
And comparing my commute to theirs and
They want what I’ve got
This travel juggernaut
These toes were made for walking now no longer just the desert
And why would you go horseback
When you know who’s storing more fat
Surviving longer without water in a hosepipe ban I’ll take
Chorus
My camel
I’ll take Euclidian Dromedaries
To navigate through London’s geography
Ooh
Bridge
I rode one time on a camel’s back
Set my sights high and said don’t look back
Starts out hard but I got the knack
Now I ride each night on a camel’s back x6
Camels don’t have headlights, they can see in the dark
Camels don’t have cruise control, they have a mind of their own
Camels don’t burn fossil fuels, it’s green energy baby
You can’t get a parking ticket for a camel
Need to cross the river? Well camels can swim!
Camels won’t charge you two thousand pounds a year for a travelcard and then tell you you can’t use the card to travel because you’re not in the right zone of the city, you can take your Oyster card and you can shove it
Chorus / Solo
My Camel
My Camel
My Camel
My Camel
Chorus
I’ll take my Camel my camel
We’ll make it through the drought alive
And see the other side with my own eyes
And realize I'll take
My camel
My camel
We’ll race through the city dunes and soon unravel
It’s the only way to travel
Ooh

Now an experienced hand at timed songwriting challenges, Ben took on the February Album Writing Challenge on his own (well, with a little help) in 2019. This is the result. Softwire
TTBT has some of my favorite songs written by The Mechs. Iphis is my personal favorite due to its ties with Greek Mythology, but it's definitely an album I have on repeat constantly. yumeinati
This is a great adaptation of Arthuriana and a brilliant narrative album. I love how the queerness of the characters is handled as an integral part of the narrative and plot development without it being the end all be all of the characters themselves. my boy Gawain deserved better though maritarvaniti
